Illinois Republican Senators Want Two-Thirds Vote to Pass Future Tax Increases

Only three months into 2019 and Democrats in Illinois have already proposed over $4.5 billion dollars in tax hikes. Republicans in the Illinois Senate are making a push to add an amendment to the Illinois State Constitution. The amendment would require two-thirds of the General Assembly to vote in favor of future tax increases in order for them to pass. The hope is to get the amendment on the ballot by 2020.
